Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India
rent law
More than fifty years we are tenant in a commercial old building. The building is maintained by us all these years. The rent was 300 at that time and five years back the landlord raised it to 6000/- which has been paid since last five years without delay. The important point is no agreement has beeen done betweeen us. Our fathers had made agreements it seems fifty years back of which no evidence is there. Presently, the landlord sends us a registered letter asking us to pay the rent by the 5 th of the English Calendar. Me being the tenant would like to know his intention behind this letter and what should be our reply to him if any.
