Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India

I am in a rented house. I have purchased a house and want to shift out on 23rd May 2012. Is it necessary that I have to pay him full month rent or can i pay him only 23 days rent and take back my advance rent deposit. I have given him oral intimation two months about my vacating the house AROUND END MAY 2012.

if you have told it is 'around end of may', you have to pay for the full may month. i missed to mark that point

You have to pay full month. No one either gives or takes for rent earlier than a month. It is always monthly. If you think it is very huge amount for the 7 days then you will have to fight it out in court which will incur additional expenses and time.
