Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India

sir my father's been living on rent for past 50 years in the posh locality of hazratganj in LUCKNOW (U.P) the property earlier was mortgage to bank but after many years the landlord has released the property by selling it to the third party i dont know how but problem is that now he is evicting the tenants by giving them a very low amount around 12 lakhs which is not acceptable by us our rent is up to date till today and we dont want to be evicted by him we pay monthly rent in court since he is not taking the rent and we have got shops at the ground floor as well on rent all i want from him is flat aganist flat either or 40 lakh rupees so that i may be able to find a good place to live i just want to know that what would be suitable is it that wedrag this case up to supreme court or we should just give up and take the amount which is not good enough at all .. we do not possess any property at all and this is the only house we have ... so i request you to kindly help me and guide me in this situation bcoz i dont have much knowledge about the tenant landlord laws in india ... i would love to answer any question being asked by you related to this matter ... i would also like to ask you sir that i have heard that if the tenant lives in a property for more than 20 years it is considered by the law that the tenant has paid the full amount of the property and is entitled to possess it i know i cant be the owner so plzz clear this doubt for me since i am living for more than 50 years .. thank you

this seems to be a wrong interpretation of law that if a tenant is living for more than 20 years, it is considered that he paid the full consideration. once a tenant always a tenant.

i agree with Adv Gupta. However your father can try to claim adverse possession.
