Re: Stamp duty & registration charges

Depending upon mutual agreement, the stamp duty is normally payable by the tenant. You may have been rightly told by your lawyer; the rent laws are different in States. In Delhi, if the rent of a building is more than 3500 p.m., the rent Act may not apply and it is comparatively easier for the landlord to seek eviction of tenant in those cases.
