Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India
I stay in a rented house in Kolkata. Landlords did not accept rent for last 1 year. I gave it to rent control. They started to ask for lakhs of rupees and threatened me to ransack my house. I filed police complain. Now, I came to know, this house that I am a tenant in, belonged to their father. he had died long ago and had several children. The house was not handed down legally to the present "landlords". MY question is, can I file court case challenging their ownership? if yes, how do I do it?

Stop paying the rent to any of them and inform the court to decide who is actually the owner/landlord to collect the rent.
