Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India

Tenancy right

My uncle is a tenant but he is not staying in our house, I am staying there since my birth and my mother is a widow staying with us . She is staying there since her marriage in 1948. I have got a son who is studying.

My landlord has stopped taking rent from us on the pretext we are not the tenants and he is refusing to take rent . What is the remedy for this.

You may keep sending the rent amount by way of a cheque / money - order in time every month.

If an eviction petition is filed, you may take a defence that the tenancy for for joint family and that the family has not been partitioned formally.

You may need to engage a local counsel for defence to conduct your case in court, if filed by landlord.
