Asking me to vacate in 13 days
I am in Hyderabad , Andhra Pradesh. I have rented a room from 1st feb 2009. I paid the advance and one current month's rent to my landlady. But she didn't hand me any receipt.When renting her room the landlady did not mention any clause on her part of vacating the premises. Now today the 15th of Feb, she comes to my room to inform me that I have to vacate this room by the end of this month. The reason being that her daughter along with her husband and kid are coming next month to stay. According to law is that legal ?

If the reason appears to be genuine you can vacate the room. If there is any ulterior motive in seeking vacation, you can file a suit for injunction restraining the landlady from evicting you except under due process of law. In such a case, she has no option except to file an eviction petition on the ground of own use and occupation and prove her bonafide requirement of the rented premises.

Ordinarily, such conditions are governed by the leave and license agreement between you and the landlord. If there is not such agreement and there was nothing discussed verbally amongst both of you then probabaly she may ultimately succeed in evicting you.

I still recommend that after analysing your case you should file a suit of injunction before the appropriate court in Hyderabad restraining your landlord from evicting you.

Since you are new to this apt, it may better for you to leave as soon as possible. it is not advisable to face litigation for such a minor issue. However, you may demand refund of your advance.
