Legal Question in Legal Ethics in India
I am an accused in a 138 case filed on me in chennai by extorting the cheque through Police station during the previous regime as the complainant is well influenced politically and after the complainant deposition and cross since the complainant could not satisfy the court he brought the police officer as a witness and the fact is the officer had deposed and the matter is remaining for us to cross. As i was not happy with the service of the existing advocate so i am in the process of changing the advocate. Now when i applied for the copies of the deposition by PW2, the officer is refusing to give me the copies saying that only advocates are entitled to get the copies. is it true that i have to file only through the advocates as the advocate use to charge Rs.2500.00 per copy and as person connected to the case iam not entitle is there any rule of law as such, please guide what i have to do in this circumstances if i keep another advocate what is the guarantee that the advocate will not demand a huge amount as it is only Rs.11.00 per petition of copy application. Please guide
