Agricultural land agreement

Dear Sir,

I had an agreement to sell my late father's property the buyer 20 lakhs in advance & agreed to register the property within 3 months. the deadline has long passed by and he is asking for 3 more months stating the market downward trend. unfortunately for me there were no clauses in the agreement. how can i go about this?

please help me

Time can be made essence of a contract, even if not originally made.

You may consider granting him extension of three months so that he may make arrangement of the balance amount. It may be stipulated in the extension letter / agreement that if payment is not received by you within that time, the previous payment may be forfeited.
