amnesty scheme

My wife has purchased a flat in the year 1991 on lease agreement basis. Is it necessary to pay stamp duty for registering the said documents.

Stamp Duty for lease is payable under Article 36.

Registration of 1991 document does not appear possible.

if u need to have the conveyance deed in ur favour, u need to pay the conveyance charges.

Yes, you may like to get the document registered so that you acquire a valid title to the property for all times to come. But it may be barred by limitation. You will need to check up with local authorities.

However, if you have already taken a bank loan and your ownership/title has been accepted by the bank for mortgage purposes, then you may not need to take any further step.
