Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

Our anchestors had lands in a village near krishnagiri. The total area is called kothapeta jagir.

In around 1965 my grandfather & other villagers had been summoned to settlement court for giving settlement patta. But my grand father didn't attend the court. one of the villagers Mr.X approached the same court & got settlement patta including our property in his name.

Mr.X also paid taxes for some years for our lands also. we are not aware of it.

But land was under our grandfathers control or possessssion.

after some years Mr.X died, Mr.X's sons were working in remote places didn't come to our lands or native place.

Even during indira gandhi's period, when land was given to farmers, land was under my grandfathers control.

In around 1981 a new patta called UDR patta given which is in the name of my grandfather.

On today's date all the documents like FMB, chitta, patta all were in the name of my grandfather's name. he died in 2006.

we have the records of tax receipts from 1978 to till date.

now in 2012 Mr.X's son & grandsons came to our lands & creating problems.

so what can we do?

Is there any value for settlement patta on today's date?

If we go to court who's favour will be the case?

how to get our old land documents before 1960's?
