My brother and I had purchased a property jointly. Can he transfer his share in my name by way of relinquishment deed?

It was a mistake above . No , you cannot transfer your share bought jointly by you and your brother, You can transfer your share through sale deed or gift deed by paying stamp duty on it.

the relinquishment is done of a right and it cannot be done regarding the co ownerhsip of a joint property. as stated above, you may have to execute a gift deed or sale deed of your share in favour of your brother.
