Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

Dear Sir/Madam,My father-in-law bought 2 houses and a plot in my mother-in-law's name.Another house had been bought by my husband and registered in my mother-in-law's name.

we are three brothers.I'm the third one.My first elder brother was dead and has 2 daughters. My second elder brother has 2 sons.I have one son.

Now my mother-in-law is showing partiality and not ready to give anything to me and my first elder brother family. My mother is not educated and there is no source of income for her.In this situation Do I have any legal right to file a suit and claim my share? Please advise. Thanks

Dear Sir / Madam,

Since all the houses are in the name of your mother-in-law she has the sole right to transfer / dispose of the houses in the manner she best deems fit. As the son-in-law you do not have any say in the matter, let alone a share of the property.

Your wife has a say and you should pursuade your wife to convince your mother-in-law that she should equally distribute the houses so that all get a fair share. It can only be done through the persuasion route and no legal right of any nature whatsoever arises to you. No suit can be filed in the absence of any legal right.
