Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

Dear Sirs,

my father expired two months back . The residential flat where we are staying stands in the name of my father's HUF .The memebers of HUF are myself (21) , my sister (24 unmarried) and my mother .The Society's record and income tax returns of HUF shows the property in the name of HUF ..Now as per Hindu Law being the eldest/only male member I have became the Karta. Nomination is in the name of my mother. We (me,sister,mother) jointly applied to the society to update their record and insert my name as Karta of the HUF .Society has refused and insists on a succession certificate from court although the flat doesnt get transferred and remains in the name of HUF of my father since we want to continue with it . Now kindly advise us as to what should we do ?
