Erection Of Gates,Shutting Them & Denial of access
Our adjacent colony have recently erected Gates on the Roads & have started locking them.We are not allowed access to the Road & have to take around about & now the whole traffic which used to ply on their roads have started flowing through our colony.Are they within their rights to erect gates & shut them & in case they do not what's the course of option for us.

If it is public road, then no one can block. Anybody can complaint to the police and local authority for removal of blockage of public road.
If it is private road, subject to rights of easement, if any, it can be blocked. If you or anybody claim rights of easement on road, may approach the court.

You may approach the local municipal authorities to find out if the roads are "public roads" or the "private roads". You may have right of access only if these are public roads, not other wise.
