Extention of ground floor flat
One member of the cooperative housing society in Mumbai - India living on the ground wants to extend his room on to the common area of the society, he has written a letter to the society asking for premission to extent. Can the society grant him premission, if yes, then what all legal documents must the society have, if the premission cannot be give, then it is on what basis

GOOD AFTERNOON!
In this case the Society cannot grant persmission to construct a extension of any property in anyways.
You have to check with the Muncipal Commisioner authorities and probably by paying a impact fees in many of the cases.

Unless such construction is permissible by law, society can not grant permission.

It may not only encroach upon other members' rights but also violate the zoning laws. In my opinion such an action by the member and the permission by the society may not be legal. You may, however, consult a local lawyer for appropriate opinion.
