The question is how the settlement arrived at? Was the property transferred to your father by way of transfer deed or sale deed or gift. The crux is whether is property possessed by your father is his self acquired property or not. If yes, than he can part away with his property in any way he likes and no one can challenge that. Transfer of an immovable property by a registered instrument by lawful owner thereof is valid.
