Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

Hi,

I am a 28 year old man. It was decided that my father would partition his property between me and my sister equally.

My question is regarding my share of land... which when purchased by my father was a single piece of land (it does not contain any partition). Do we need to get a map of this land for the partition deed?

If partition is by metes and bounds, then having boundaries fixed and annexing map to deed is advisable. Even if same is not a must.
