Hi,
My mother has done gift deed to me and my elder brother a house dividing as ground flr to my elder brother and 1st flr to me. if i want to built 2nd flr what is the procedure i need to take according to law and what documents should be signed by my brother to this?

You need to have clear rights for raising construction above Ist floor.The rights may be conferred upon by way of a 'family settlement'.

Show the gift deed, if it is mention that FF and above is yours then it is a clear title else you have to make family settlement.
