Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India
.my husband and his brother had signed a family agreement in the presence of the arbitrator but soon after that my husband realised that his brother had used some words/terms which ,in legal languge have a different meaning and are not acceptable to us.The brother is a lawyer . My husband has been asking to amend the document but in vain can we say we have been cheated and we want a fresh agreement.Also how important is a family agreement which has not been registered in the court?

The family agreement is an arrangement between members of the same family, intended to be generally and reasonably for the benefit of the family either by compromising doubtful or disputed rights or by preserving the family property or the peace and security of the family by avoiding litigation or by saving its honour and such agreement is valid if executed and notarized in the court of law.
You have mentioned that the agreement was reached in the presence of an "arbitrator". that may have different implications in law. The agreement should be shown to a lawyer explaining all the facts for proper opinion.
