we the joint owners are likely to register partition deed in Delhi. One of the owners wants to keep original conveyance deed with him. Though we have true copy of the same but what are the disadvantages of not having the original conveyance deed in future.

Get a Notarised copy of the original and keep the same. It is equal to original in all cases. If possible, get a copy of the registered sale deed from registrar office. It too serve your purpose

Add necessary covenants in the deed with regard to retention of original by one of the parties with obligations on him to provide inspection, copies and production of original as and when needed by other parties and also to add covenants of not using / depositing the original without express written consent of all the parties with any bank and like.
