legal procedure to take a flat on rent

Hi , i would like to know what is the proper legal procedure to take a flat on rent with room mates.what documents are required and what are the formalities.

You need to enter into a duly registered rent agreement. This is popularly called as Leave & License Agreement.

No document is necessary as such. A lease deed may or may not be executed. There is no compulsion to have a lease deed.

Since you want the flat to be shared with other persons, you need to give prior intimation to the owner regarding this. Thereafter you need to pay the advance and monthly rent without any default. Thats the end of it.
