mother is executing a property (in Delhi) relinquishment deed in favor of her 2 sons, how much stamp duty is payable by the sons?

it is better if you file a petition for succession of property instead of relinquishment. the statement recorded in the court is binding upon the parties and such deeds may not be reliable in the longer run.

I am sorry and I do not agree with my friend. First let me answer to your question. Mother may execute the required relinquishment deed by executing it on a stamp paper of Rs. 100/- there is no other duty payable on it. (Please double check Rs. 100/- as recently it may not have been revised to Rs. 500/-) this is irrespective of the value of property. Relinquishment deed comes into play after the death of the owner. one of Legal heir relinquish right in favour of the other Legal Heirs. If it is registered it is safe.
