Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

My mothers ancestral property in Kozhikode district of Kerala was partitioned in the year 1990. We belong to the Nair community following matriarchal family system. Hence under the Hindu joint family Abolition Act 1975, all members born before Dec 1976 were given equal rights in the property.

However apart from the properties which were inherited by my grandmother, a few properties which were acquired by my Grandfather in his personal capacity in the 1950's were also included in this partition.

Can I Question this? Can I contest that the properties that were acquired by my grandfather are beyond the purview of the Joint family Act and that these have to be divided equally among his children only and not all members in the family.
