what can we do if the plot dimension is less than what is mentioned in the sale deed? the deed was executed between my father and his brother? Can we go for a rectification deed? Does the rectification deed needs signature from sellers wife and children?

Yes, Rectification Deed is required in your case. Rect. Deed is to be executed between the parties who signed the original Agreement.
