Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

Property is on the name of Father & son ans they belong to catholic religion. Son has died about 5 year's back, now son's wife wants to admit name of her daughter to society share certificate. Can you confirm whether it is legal or not.

Whether son died with or without Will? Nature of property? Nature of bye-laws of Society etc. would be relevant.
