Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

sir, my grandfather(mother's father) has purchased a 150 sq yrd land in 1976 from some x person in workers employees colony. in 1996 he has given a veelunama of the land to my mother and her sister. the veelunama is registred.and he has given the whole rights to sell the land. the orginals and all left with my mother's sister. in 2002 my mother sold her part of the land to some "y" person. he regesterd the land with the veelunama that we had with us and also with the duplicate copies. now later that person constructed a building also. now the same person went for home loan and the bankers asked him for the link documents. but here comes the main point, in the link document, he had not found any where my grandfather name. only the x person name is mentioned in the link documents and no where my grandfather name is mentioned. so we asked our mother's sister about the orginal documents and they had only the veelunama. and now the "y" person who bought the land from my parents was asking us for the link document. which was missing. we don't have any information abt the link documents. we just sold the land only with the veelunama that was regesitred to us from our grandfather. it is sure that my grandfather purchased the land from the "X" person. every one knows abt it. and it is not a fraud issue. but with out the proof we cannot say any thing.

doubt 1: my 1st doubt is my grandfather might have purchased the land with out registring the land inthe register office. and had agreement with some promisory note or with some identical documents. so that his name is missing in the register office link documents.

doubt2: is there any problem if the documents were not found?

doubt3: is there any problem if the "y" person who purchased the land from my parents apply to legal procedures?

Note: while at the time of selling we clearly made the regestration with the documents( veelunama) that we aquired from my grandfather to the "y" person. so please help us out. surely the documents must be with my mother's sister or elder brother. and they were not supporting us. and also a chance of documents missing.
