Stamp Duty in Mumbai
My Father has purchased flate in 1971 the carpet area is 800 sqft. Our Is co-operative registered society. Our society has consturcted the building and we have paid the construction cost to the builder hence there is no agreement with the builder. Only the society has given the share certificate to each flat owner.
Please advise us as mentioned above still we have to pay stamp duty for flat purchased in 1971 as mentioned above in detail.

The stamp duty is payable ONLY when you seek registration of a document with the revenue/local authorities.
Since you are the owner since 1971, please write what is the occasion for you to discuss about stamp duty at this stage after 37 years ?

If the name of the society has been entered in the 7/12 extract of the Land Records.,If not ask the society to avail the benefit of amnesty scheme.

No stamp is attracted or payable in your aforesaid matter.
