Stamp duty

Hi sir,

i have a querry here,

i have a property alloted in 1974 by my society in mumbai, do i have to pay stamp duty on this, our society's conveyance-deed is already registered. There is no agreement & i have only share certificate.

Please do reply to my query urgently

From the facts, it appears that you are not required to pay stamp duty.

What does mean "society's conveyance deed is already registered". If the Conveyance Deed in favour of society has been registered, then society is owner and you are no more "owner". If you want to executed sale or conveyance deed in your favour, then you have to pay stamp duty. But check before execution of such deed, that some governments exempt stamp duty on the execution of "Transfer Deed" in favour of its allottee for first time.
