Transfer of society certificate

i have purcahse a flat in 2002, and in 2008 i had made a gift deed and trabsfer the flat on my father name, now when we have sold the flat to Mr.XYZ, building society is saying to transfer the name first on my fathe name, which we have done but they are not ready to transfer it on the name of Mr.Xyz saying that as per society act they cannot tranfer it, atlest for 1 years please advice is there ant way out
