Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

My wife's grandfather wrongly entered the abbervated name as "Lakshmi" in a land purchased way back in 1987, instead of full name "Mahalakshmi". Now the land is aquired by govt . For getting compensation how to prove Mahalakshmi is Lakshmi?

a gazette notification and a newspaper publication that laxmi is also known as mahalakshmi, may serve the purpose.
