Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in India

One of my colleagues was married for 3 years and was a victim of severe voilence by her husband. The marks of tortures she went under can clearly seen all over her body. She was sexually harassed as well as she refused to do intercourse. She has been divorced for over one and a half year now. I have good faith in legal system and wish to persue law as well. I want to know if any legal action can be taken against my friend's ex-husband. If yes then what all preparations are we supposed to do. Will it be feasile keepping in mind that this person has got high profile legal contacts.

The only relief available for a divorced may be right of maintenance against her husband and not for any legal action based on cruelty prior to divorce.
