Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in India

stalking,sexual harassment

7 years ago a guy troubled me by sending,flowers,cards etc & stalking me wherevr i went.i moved on though the man tried to contact me through phone.right now he has my phone number & constantly sends sexually abusive smses everyday at the rate of about 5 a day.what are the means to stop him.is what he is doing legally criminal?

Yes, it is a criminal offence under IPC. You can file complaint with police and give them his phono no. also save the messages he send you in a cd , so it can be used in evidence in future.

Immediately lodge a police complaint,It a crime and also an attemt to outrage the modesty of a woman.Save the messages and use the same as evidence.

get a FIR registered against him by showing the SMSes to the police and he can be booked under the provisions of chapter 14.
