Tax deducted at source on salary

My Employeer had deducted tax on my salary for the year 2006-07. I quite my job on 15 March 2007giving 1 months notice he did not pay me my 15 days salary and over and above when I asked him for Form 16 he refused to give me. Now he says since he had no TAN no. he has not paid the tax in the Govt treasury. Please advice me how should I solve this matter.

your employer,as you said,if at all deducted any tax at source from your salary then he is supposed to give the form 16 by all means.There is no escape to him by saying all the ridiculous reasons,you can approach the authorities of Income tax department of your concerned Range and state the causes and your inability of not furnishing the form 16 details
