Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in India

My DAD has a property of 50Lacs registered under his name.

My MOM is a house-wife and she is feeling insecure after my marriage.

Now, we wanted my MOM to have equal rights on my Dad's property of 50 L ( HOME)

Can she have those rights, by a legal agreement signed by my dad instead of getting the house re-registered under my MOMs name.

Just to skip the registration charges which may cost more that 2 lacs now.

Pls advice !!

Have a Will registered in your Mom's name with her Living Rights over the property, everything would be fine, all will feel secure.

is it your father's self acquired property and if yes has he made any will in favour of third party , if the answer is no he can by Will dispose of the property /half of property in favour of your mother. Registration of Will is not compulsory and even if you wish to register the maximum exp will be upto Rs 10000/- or so.

some states have allowed the addition of wife's name without any additional charges. A simple No objection during life time of your father may do the needful. Please confirm it with your local office or else you write the city where the property is located.
