Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in India
Dear Sir,
I wish to submit a question regarding the hindu succession act. I got married in 1990 and have one son and one daughter. My wife has one brother and two sisters.Brother is married and has one son and two daughters. One sister is married and she has one son and one daughter. The second sister is divorced. Both father in law and mother in law are alive.
1. I want to know what proportion (in %age) of share from my father in laws ancestral property belongs to my wife as per law.
2. Whether my wife has any claim on the property earned by my father in law.( in case he does not give anything in his will).
Thanking You

in case the property is ancestral, your wife has an equal share along with her siblings and parents. in case it is self acquired, you father in law may will it to anyone and in case your father in law dies intestate, then all the children including your wife and her mother would have an equal share.
