Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in India
My Father in law died last month. Problem is that he had one savings account in his Name in Punjab National bank. Since the account was very old, there was NO NOMInee mentioned in his account. The amount is above 10 lacs Rs. What is the correct procedure & time to transfer the amount to the legal hier, i.e. in my mother in laws name. Some lawyer told that court charges approx 8 % of the total amount to issue letter of succession.??? pls help

you may hire a lawyer and he would file a petition for the grant of succession in favour of your wife. you may negotiate the fee with the lawyer.
