Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in India

How does one register a will? Are there any charges for the same and do we have to buy stamp papers or pay duty on the same? Can a registered will be cancelled or revoked by the person who has made a will? If he can revoke it then what use is a registered will as against a normal will?

There is no stamp duty. will can be on a plain paper. The charges for registration are very nominal depending upon state to state. Will can be cancelled and revoked by the maker of the will irrespective of the fact that it is registered or not.

Will legally is not required to be registered

The only edge the registered will has over the normal will is its execution and attestion. it is difficult to challenge the execution or attestation once the will is registered.
