Legal Question in Banking Law in Indiana
A friend of mine intercepted 2 hernia mesh checks, signed then over to herself without my consent and the bank cashed them.
I was in the hernia lawsuit, and until Dec I was not aware my case had settled. I had signed a form years ago to settle for a certain sum, bit it was delayed inn court again. I recently had a friend that just got hers and I called my attorney for an update and found that my case was paid out in Dec 2017 , and March 2018. Since I was not aware of this they sent me copies and one of my friends signed the back of them pay to the order of her and took then to her bank. My attorneys advised me to go to the police,. Since it was in 2018, is there any way the bank will have to pay me back since this is fraud?

You will need to consult with an attorney to see if you can still timely make a claim against the bank. The general time period for suing for a negligent act, such as the bank cashing your check, would be two years. But exceptions can apply.
