Legal Question in Banking Law in Indiana

Should I have to pay on overdfaft fee for someone else's bad check?

I have a friend that wrote a check to me for $15.00 I cashed it at my bank, but a week or so later it came back on to my account with a service fee. The bank deposited her check into my account then applied a $7.00 fee, I became overdrawn because of this so I also had a NSF fee of $28.00. Should I make my friend pay for all of this, and is the bank allowed to do this??

Did you deposit the check or merely cash it-all banks charge for NSF checks that are deposited but not all charge you if you cash one without depositing it-it depends on the bank-I suspect yours has a written policy for such charges-ask to see it-you can always ask them to waive the fees and charges -if they dont, change banks-trya credit union instead.

Your friend is liable for all charges you incur as a result of her NSF check
