Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Indiana
Funeral Expenses
Can I include my brother's funeral expenses on my bankruptcy since I signed the forms for his funeral. I have not filed bankruptcy yet but have the papers drawn up - just not signed yet.

Re: Funeral Expenses
Yes. If you signed the forms for financial responsibility and now wish to have that debt included in your bankruptcy petition's list of debts to be discharged, you can.
Remember to list the funeral home as a creditor in order to do that.
FYI, if someone else co-signed for responsibility for that, though, you will be leaving that person on the hook entirely for the debt.
Hope this information helps.
Re: Funeral Expenses
Generally yes. But, If you filled out a financial statement and did not list or accurately state your financial condition, the funeral home may be able to sue you in bankruptcy court asking that you not be able to discharge their bill.
Anyone else who sign the financial responsibilty contract would still be liable fot the full amount of the debt
