can you file for bankruptcy if you already have filed once before?

Yes, you can file again. It's not a once-in-a-lifetime event.

If you have filed a chapter 7 previously, you must wait six years before you file another.

If you file a 7, then wish to file a 13, this six-year wait doesn't apply.
