Legal Question in Business Law in Indiana

Advertising for the opening of a new small business

Hi, We are starting a carpet cleaning business, and we are trying to generate customers in several different ways including distibuting flyers. My question is, is it illegal to place our flyers under windshield wipers on cars in parking lots of places such as department stores, grocery stores and other various places of business. I have had them placed on my car many times while parked at work, but I don't think I should apply the tactics of others to our business without knowing a little about it.

Thank You

In politics there is a saying that car-leafleting is for losers. Is it legal? If you mean, will the county prosecutor try to put you in jail? - probably not. But it is technically a trespass on the property of the parking lot owner and on the vehicle. So now you are in a position where what you need from your potential customers is forgiveness of a trespass. How would you feel about it -- as a potential customer? It's probably a poor use of your copying expenses and energy.
