Legal Question in Business Law in Indiana
Basically, I want to be able to purchase items for a low price on Ebay and then sell them high on Ebay. It is my understanding that I need a Sales Tax ID to be able to charge sales tax to in-state buyers. Also, a resale permit will allow me to avoid paying sales tax on items I buy on Ebay intended for resale. Are there other measures I must prior to buying low, selling high on Ebay. I only intend to sell about 2-3 items per week, but I do intend to make a profit.
1 Answer from Attorneys
Any attorney will say to check with eBay regarding their sales tax policy. In most cases, sales tax is automatically collected from buyers, even those who hold a valid resale permit. Consult with an attorney in your area for specifics.
