Car destoyed at a business
My car was destoyed in a fire that broke out at a resort type business. The main office was set on fire and 8 cars were destroyed. The owner says he is not responsible for the cars that we have to go throughour car insurance, we only had liability. Is the owner responsible?

Re: Car destoyed at a business
Fire damage to vehicles lawfully on the premises is probably oovered by the owner's casualty insurer, whether or not the owner is legally liable, which he probably is. Forgive the hedging, but too much depends on particular facts to provide a very clear opinion. Contact your insurer to see if they will help you present the claim to the resort owner. Otherwise, confer with a lawyer experienced in property liability. Good luck.

Not really enough facts to answer the question asked. Generally, if the resort had no duty to you, then it has no liability.

There may be many avanues to pursue. If your vehicle was lawfully parked there, his property insurer may cover regadless of fault. Regardless, if the owner caused the fire, there should be liability.
