Legal Question in Business Law in Indiana
Indiana Business Law
I am an employer. I hired an employee, and she came in for her first day of training. She had not filled out her paper work, so I told her to fill it out and she took it home. She never showed up or called again. Now, she is filing for unemployment.
My questions are:
Was I legally allowed to let her work that first day without paper-work?
Can she file for unemployment without ever filling out the paper-work and never again showing up for work without a call?

You probably should have had her fill out the paperwoirk first and I suggest that you make doing so a standard practice.
Contest the unemployment, since you did not fire her.
