Legal Question in Business Law in Indiana

Laws pertaining to catalog billing and shipping

What does the law say about catalog companies billing and shipping practices. In particular: Is a catalog company able to charge individuals prior to providing said service. Can BMG music company charge my credit card prior to shipping my chosen selections? It seems to me that they are charging me for services not yet rendered. Catalog companies that I have dealt with in the past, usally do not bill my card until the merchandise has been shipped. Is this just good customer service, or are they abiding by some law? In the case of back-ordered items, I could in theory pay for an item and then not posses said item for x number of days, months or years. Do I have any legal recourse?

Re: Laws pertaining to catalog billing and shipping

the best thing to do in this situation is to call your credit card company. They are usually very good about taking care of you.
