is it legal for an employer to take money out of an employees check for a customers returned check

As a Franchise Attorney I have to agree with the other attorney answer. It sounds like an illegal employment practice, but the Indiana Dept. of Labor can advise and take action if necessary. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
