Legal Question in Business Law in Indiana
We are opening an artists cooperative in our community and don't know how to handle sales tax. We are in Indiana. We do not yet have non-profit status. Should the coop collect sales tax and turn it over to the artists or should the coop get a business license and report the sales tax? Thanks!

Any attorney will advise you to contact your state's sales tax agency, sometimes called a Board of Equalization, Sales Tax Division, etc. They will be able to give you advice on collecting and remitting sales tax. Consult with an attorney in your area for specifics.
