Power of Attorney
If I am given power of attorney over someone else's estate can I be legally or financially liable for decisions that they make before and after the power of attorney is given over to me?

You need to provide more facts. Liable to the person who gave you the power of attorney or to some other person or entity?

Mr. Padove is correct, you should consult with an attorney for even half an hour to find out what your risks and responsibilities are as long as you have that PoA.
